While a student at the Clef Club of Jazz,  Erik was a member of a few student formed and lead professional ensembles. Members of these ensembles included Ben Sutin (violin); Jordan Williams, James Santangelo,  and Jerry Tate (keyboards); Dahi Devine, D.J. Turner, and Sonny Step (saxophones); and,  Justin Faulkner and Devon Waring (drums). Some of Erik’s first professional bands were . . . The BLIND WOODS (a.k.a. The Andrea Belanger Band)
Erik was the band’s touring bass player during 2014 and off and on again since.   One of the highlights was playing at the American Blues Association’s  Awards Ceremony, where the band  was nominated as the best new act. INCUS
The Blind Woods were formed by singer/songwriter Andrea Belanger in 2011 after she was voted the winner of a contest on Sonicbids to play at the Bonneroo  Music and Arts Festival.  They were invited  back to perform the next year.
INCUS  brings influences from Middle Eastern, Native American, African, and Eastern European musical traditions, to  the American Tribal music movement.   Erik was the band’s bass player during 2012  into 2013.  Highlights were playing the  Festival Internacional de las Artes (FIA) and Envision Festivals in Costa Rica, and fire dances. Ryan Duchene, Ricky Petraglia, and Erik first played together in the “Blind Woods”   Blending their diverse musical backgrounds - ranging from folk to hip-hop, country, and jazz to electronica - each member spins their own unique section of the collective cosmic  web of Americana.

‘Endangered Speeches’, the creative brainchild of Greek MC / singer / composer /arranger Mariletta Konstantara, was rooted equally in hip-hop and reggae. Their sound was characterized chiefly by the unique global view brought by each of its 13 members.   Erik was a founding member in 2009 and played with the band until they scattered to the winds in 2013.
